In this six-part prequel to Spartacus: Blood and Sand, the story will

focus on life in the gladiator school before Spartacus arrives as a

Thracian slave. John Hannah returns as Batiatus, owner of the school,

along with his wife Lucretia (Lucy Lawless). Other returning actors

include Andy Whitfield (Spartacus), Peter Mensah (Doctore), Manu Bennett

We don't censor ourselves. If we think something is a good idea, we just

throw it out there. It's very rare that we in the writer's room say

"That's going to far." We've only done that once, and I can't tell you

what it is.



We don't have to shy away from it. We can be a little more graphic.

There are some things, mostly of a sexual nature, on the DVD. There's an

extra shot in there [of the gladiator getting castrated] and in episode

There's tons of commentary. Not every episode, but 9 or 10 out of 13.

The original plan for Lucy's character was for only one season. She was

having so much fun, she wanted to come back. I said "Absolutely not, she

Riassunto:

Steven Deknight è stato l'unico presente al TCA Summer Tour. Gli altri attori sono tutti impegnati alle riprese del prequel che sono cominciate una settimana fa e quindi in NZ.

Steven parla del prequel, che si concentrerà sulla casa di Batiatus prima della prima stagione, parla del ritorno di John Hannah nel prequel, e del fatto che stavano già pensando di fare un episodio nella seconda stagione dove facevano vedere una backstory di Batiatus con dei flashback, poi quando Andy si è ammalato, hanno deciso invece di farne un prequel in sei episodi.
Insieme a Batiatus ci sarà anche Lucretia, e faranno vedere anche il padre di Batiatus.
Lucretia doveva morire nella prima stagione, infatti avevano girato una scena dove moriva, ma poi ne hanno girato un'altra dove si muoveva ancora e hanno messo quella, lasciando la porta aperta al suo ritorno. Steven DeKnight ha detto che ama troppo il suo personaggio per farla morire, e così Lucretia tornerà nella seconda stagione, oltre che nel prequel. John Hannah invece no.
Ha parlato dei DVD che usciranno a Settembre, e ci saranno delle scene tagliate che non abbiamo visto negli episodi, due delle quali sono state menzionate (la scena dell'orgia nell'episodio 6 e la scena in cui viene castrato Segovax nell'ottavo episodio).
